Jonathan Orlando Álvarez Cermeño.

born in Los Teques, Venezuela. (1989).

Since his studies in the “National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela” (El Sistema), the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music and the National Academy of Double Bassists of Venezuela (prof. Félix Petit), he was a regular member and/or collaborator of the most important groups of his born country such as: Caracas Youth Symphony (2006), Caracas Municipal Symphony (2011), Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and Simón Bolívar Baroque Orchestra (2014), having worked under the batons of José Antonio Abreu, Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, Rafael Payare, Alondra de la Parra, Michael Form, among others, and getting regular advices mostly from Berlin Philharmonic members.

Since his arrival in Spain in 2016, he has collaborated with the Galicia Symphony, Community of Madrid Symphony, Tenerife Symphony, Oviedo Philharmonie, Murcia Region Symphony, Vigo430, Excelentia Foundation, Escuela Reina Sofía, and historically informed groups around Spain and Europe. From 2018 he collaborates with the specialists at il Pomo d'Oro Orchestra (Swiss/Italy) and is also co-founder in Spain of the Orquesta del Cantábrico and Orquesta Humboldt.

He has recorded for different record labels such as Glossa, Outhere Music/Arcana, Aparté, Warner Classics/Erato and for networks such as Mezzo TV, Medici TV or national radios from France, Spain, Poland and Sweden.

He's a regular meditation practitioner. Listening to, dancing or playing Salsa music is part of his DNA. He trusts in curiosity as the source of a limitless and fearless life, joy as the highest level of functioning and the ability to be kind as an expression of strength.
